Our Story
Tony Perrett Fencing began in 1996. Tony was dairy farming in mid-Dorset with his wife Averil, after enjoying fencing his own farm, other fencing jobs followed from local farmers and neighbours who could see that Tony was naturally talented at fitting fences that kept livestock in and were built TOUGH to last.
As more and more jobs came in, it was clear a decision had to be made, come the year 2000 it was give up the cows or give up the fencing! We are pleased to say Tony and Averil followed what they enjoyed most and took the leap to go full time fencing.
We grew steadily during the 2000s increasing the range of fencing we could offer, expanding our residential fencing service and starting to supply industrial fencing too. With an increasing range of work undertaken, investments in equipment, training and staff were done to allow us to work to our build TOUGH standard, which is Tony's principle when carrying out any job he does. We started working for respected authorities and companies including Dorset County Council, Betterment Properties, National Trust, NHS, Kingston Maurward College and Wildlife Trusts.
Tony's son Tim joined the family business in 2012. Tim brought with him experience gained as a Senior Producer Advisor with the Soil Association in Bristol, a degree in Agricultural Marketing from Harper Adams University and personal experience from fencing on many farms throughout his teenage years to mid twenties, thus in 2013 we became Perrett Fencing Ltd to bring Tim into the business with Tony and Averil.
Tim built on his fathers good name and invested in compact tracked post knockers, lightweight telehandlers and the latest fencing equipment in our distinct bright green livery! Our reputation grew based on a high standard of work at a fair price and we opened our office to deal with the increase in demand.
In 2021 Sam Baker was brought into the business as a share holder and director after completing his apprenticeship in 2010 and being a fencing superstar ever since!
In 2025 Sam took over day to day management of Perrett Fencing Ltd with the help and support of Tony, Averil & Tim and the rest of our brilliant staff.
You'll still find Tim and even Tony on the tools occasionally as they push forward with the design and manufacture of fencing tools for fencers including the Perrett Post Plate now sold across UK and Europe!
